ONEXSUGAR 1: This Shape-Shifting Dual-Screen Handheld Launches on Indiegogo July 21

We featured the modular ONEXSUGAR 1 Android handheld earlier this year when it was first announced, and now this wild shapeshifting device is gearing up for its Indiegogo launch in just a few hours.

Update: The ONEXSUGAR 1 Indiegogo campaign is now officially live. You can check out the full details and back the project here.

Developed by ONEXPLAYER under their new sub-brand ONEXSUGAR, the handheld stands out in the crowded Android gaming space with a unique approach: a transforming design that combines two OLED displays with adjustable controllers that flip and fold to suit different layouts and play styles.

Beyond the clever engineering, the SUGAR 1 is also packing some serious power under the hood, with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon G3x Gen 3 chipset, which promises faster load times, smoother emulation, and plenty of horsepower for the most demanding Android titles.

Key specs include:

• Main screen: 6.01” OLED, 2160 x 1080
• Second screen: 3.92” OLED, 1240 x 1080
• Snapdragon G3x Gen 3 chip with Adreno A32 GPU
• 16GB RAM + 512GB UFS 4.0 storage
• Dual-fan active cooling system
• Hall effect joysticks and microswitch buttons
• Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C and MicroSD support

The device also ships with a custom Android 14 interface the company calls “Sugar Console,” which offers a number of advanced customization tools, from RGB lighting and controller remapping to screen masking for black bar removal and dynamic aspect ratio tweaks.

The SUGAR 1 will officially hit Indiegogo on July 21 at 9AM PDT, with a limited 72-hour early bird launch price of $599 USD, including a free protective case. If you’ve been keeping an eye on this one, now’s the time to mark your calendar.
