Universe of Words: Art Installation by Emmanuelle Moureaux

French artist Emmanuelle Moureaux created this sprawling art installation composed of approximately 140,000 hiragana letters to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Japanese soft drink company Calpis.
The celebration coincided with Tanabata, the Japanese star festival, when people write their hopes and dreams on colored pieces of paper and hang them on a bamboo branch in hopes that their wishes will come true.
With her creation, Emmanuelle aimed to reimagine this tradition by extracting the sense of Tanabata onto the floating words.
