Mineral Insects: 3D Printed Sculptures by Nozomi C
Published Jan 31, 2024
“Mineral Insects” is a series of 3D printed sculptures by Paris-based artist Nozomi C. The concept behind these beautiful pieces was to depict “insects mimicking their mineral environment”.
Nozomi started the process digitally sculpting the initial models using 3D software. After finalizing the delicate designs, she used a 3D printer to bring them to life and then meticulously hand-painted each piece with lacquer and color-shifting pigments. The result is a visually striking reinterpretation of these small creatures, with exoskeletons that mirror the look of various shimmering minerals.
