LEGO Turns Race-Day Gear into Wearable Art for F1 Fans at the Shanghai Grand Prix
Published Mar 24, 2025
This weekend, as F1 excitement swept through Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix, LEGO added a creative twist to the race-day experience with their “Build the Thrill” collection, designed just for fans. Developed in collaboration with AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO), the collection pulls directly from LEGO’s passion for imaginative design, transforming car culture into wearable art pieces that celebrate style and play.
The lineup includes cool items like the Speed Champions Ita-Bag, Technic Backpack, Lap Cap, and V6 Engine Block Headset, all inspired by iconic F1 teams like McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull. But these aren’t your typical accessories. Each piece cleverly incorporates playful LEGO elements in unexpected ways. For example, the Starting Light Goggles feature functional lights that illuminate sequentially as you twist the tires on its frame, and the Technic Backpack includes movable race car wheels and lighting effects that can be activated at the push of a button.
While most brands create gear for drivers and teams, LEGO’s collection shifted the focus onto fans, giving them something fun and tangible to elevate their race-day experience.
