JSAUX Multi-Controller Energy Station for Switch 2 Review: One Dock to Charge Your Entire Joy-Con Army

If you ever had friends over for a session of Mario Kart World only to realize that some of your controllers are flashing red, you understand the frustration and the exact problem JSAUX is trying to solve here.

The JSAUX Multi-Controller Energy Station is one of those accessories that might sound a little excessive at first. But if you have a Pro Controller, an extra pair of Joy-Cons or a household where multiple people regularly jump in for local multiplayer sessions, this little charging station starts to make a lot of sense.

Like any other charging dock, the idea is simple: instead of having controllers scattered around the TV cabinet or scrambling for USB-C cables, the Energy Station gives everything a proper home. It can charge up to four Joy-Cons and one Switch 2 Pro Controller at the same time, with dedicated slots for each controller and a large circular LED panel on the front that shows the charging status clearly at a glance. It’s not the smallest accessory in JSAUX’s growing Switch 2 lineup, but it is one of the more useful ones.

What’s in the box

Inside the box, you get the Multi-Controller Energy Station itself, along with a USB-C to USB-A charging cable and the usual paperwork.

There’s no wall adapter included, which is pretty standard for accessories like this, but it’s worth keeping in mind. You’ll need to plug it into a USB power source, charger or the Switch 2 dock itself to get going.

The included cable is long enough for most setups, and since the Energy Station folds flat when not in use, it’s easy enough to pack away or move between rooms if needed.

Design & build quality

One of my favorite features of this charging dock is the foldable design. You can open it up when you want to use it, then fold it flat when you want to tuck it away. At 133 x 161 x 32mm (5.2 x 6.3 x 1.3in), it’s not exactly tiny, but that foldable approach makes it feel much more portable and less awkward than a fixed charging stand, particularly if your setup is already feeling a bit crammed. At 310g (11oz), it’s very light too, so it’s easy enough to move from the living room to a separate desk setup.

The build is mostly plastic, but it feels solid and well put together. The matte black finish also fits nicely alongside the Switch 2 and other accessories, without looking too loud or overdesigned.

The main visual element is the large circular LED panel on the front. It looks sharp, modern and surprisingly polished for a charging accessory at this price. More importantly, it makes the charging status easy to read at a glance, which is exactly what you want from something like this.

The layout is clever too. The Joy-Cons snap into the side rails or at the base, right next to a dedicated spot for the Switch 2 Pro Controller.

One of the best details is that the side charging slots are compatible not only with Switch 2 Joy-Cons but also with the original Joy-Cons. So if you’ve upgraded to the new console but still have a drawer full of original Joy-Cons (and who doesn’t), they’re very welcome here. This kind of backwards compatibility is fantastic to see and JSAUX deserves a lot of praise for that.

Around the back of the top panel, you’ll also find four game card slots and four microSD card slots, which is a nice bonus that helps turn the unit into a neat little command center for your Switch 2 setup.

Charging performance

As mentioned earlier, this charging dock lets you charge up to four Joy-Cons and one Switch 2 Pro Controller simultaneously. Controllers slot in easily and start charging immediately, and the front display makes it very clear to see what’s happening. The individual indicators are designed as simple controller shapes that are bright, sharp and easy to understand. White means standby, pulsating red means charging, and solid green means fully charged. There’s also an animated white LED strip between these indicators and the lit-up JSAUX Gaming logo for a bit of flair.

As nice as this display looks, I do wish there was a way to turn it off or even just pause the animated strip, either by tapping the panel or pressing a physical button on the unit. I understand that would have potentially added to the cost, but it would be a welcome addition for anyone who might find it a bit distracting. To be clear, it’s not an issue at all when the charger is sitting on a TV unit across the room, but it’s something you might notice in specific situations, like a darker room or a desk setup where the dock sits closer to your monitor.

Charge times land at around 2.5 to 3 hours per controller and JSAUX also included safety protections for overcurrent, overvoltage and overload, which is reassuring when you’re leaving a bunch of controllers docked at once.

One small note, in case it wasn’t obvious already. The Energy Station charges controllers only. It doesn’t dock or charge the Switch 2 console itself. If that’s what you’re after, there’s a different (and pricier) JSAUX product for that right here.
