This Pocket-Sized Printer Turns Your Designs Into Tattoos, Stickers and T-Shirt Transfers

Most creative gadgets are one-trick machines, a sticker maker here, a photo printer there, each one taking up space and eating into your hard-earned cash for a single job.

The INKWON Tag takes a more flexible approach: one pocket-sized printer that can turn your own artwork and photos into temporary tattoos, stickers, iron-on transfers and small-format prints, all from a phone or tablet. And going by its Kickstarter run, the pitch is landing hard. The project blew past its funding goal many times over within days of launching.

The device connects via Bluetooth and works with the INKWON app, which includes image editing tools, templates, a built-in design library and AI image generation. That last feature will be welcomed by many, especially those who like the idea of making custom designs but don’t necessarily know where to start. You can describe what you want, generate an image, make adjustments and send it straight to print.

At 105 x 97 x 45mm (4.1 x 3.8 x 1.8 in) and 235g (8.3 oz), the INKWON Tag is small enough to drop into a bag and take to craft sessions, parties, markets or pop-up events. It uses a CMY dye-based inkjet cartridge and prints at 600dpi, with a maximum print size of 54 x 89mm (2.1 × 3.5 in), making it best suited for small-format creations like stickers, labels and wallet-sized photos.

It charges over USB-C in about 2.5 hours and runs roughly 90 minutes (around 60 sheets) per charge, neatly matching the ~60-sheet life of its CMY cartridge.

Early-bird Kickstarter bundles are still available, starting at $199 for the Basic Pack, which includes the printer, an ink cartridge and starter paper for tattoos, heat transfers and photo or sticker prints. Units are expected to ship from August.
