Expressive Distorted Paintings by Mikael Takacs

Published Jan 15, 2024

Mikael Takacs is a visionary artist based in Stockholm who uses an unconventional method involving pipettes to apply paint onto the canvas, resulting in remarkable and expressive artworks with a truly unique style.

At the heart of Mikael’s vibrant paintings lies the pipette technique, a method that involves using small, narrow tubes to distribute acrylic paint across the canvas. Unlike traditional brush strokes, this technique allows Takacs to create sharp details and dynamic textures, giving his works a sense of movement and energy.

Different versions of this method have been around for centuries, yet his creations are often confused with digital art. Marbling, also known as “Suminagashi” in 12th century Japan, is believed to have traveled to Europe via the Ottoman Empire and its “Ebru” technique many years later.
