AOKZOE A1X Announced with Ryzen AI 9, 120Hz VRR Display & More

Published Apr 16, 2025

Launching on Kickstarter on April 17th, the follow-up to the AOKZOE A1 is shaping up to be a serious contender in the increasingly crowded handheld gaming space.

What’s New with the A1X?

The A1X will be powered by the AMD Ryzen™ AI 9 HX 370 chipset, which is quickly becoming the standard for new high-end handhelds. But if you’re looking for something easier on the wallet, there’s also a more budget-friendly 8840U version available.

The device features an 8-inch 1080p 120Hz screen with VRR support, and it comes packed with a hefty 72.7Wh battery. The company says you can expect around 3 hours of gameplay with more demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077, while lighter indie games like Hades 2 can stretch your gaming session up to 8 hours. Here’s how the A1X’s battery stacks up against other popular handhelds on the market:

In terms of ports and connectivity, you’ll get two USB-C 4.0 ports, one USB-A 3.2 port, and an OCuLink interface for external GPUs. Plus, the latest Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

Launch Day Specials

If you’re interested in checking out the AX1, early backers on Kickstarter will get a 24-hour window to grab it at a discounted price before it goes back to standard pre-order rates.

The handheld comes in four configurations, starting at $799 during the first 24 hours (or $839 afterward) for the base model with an 8840U chipset, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. If you’re after the top-tier option, you can grab the AI370 version with 64GB of RAM and 2TB of storage for $1299 during the launch offer, or $1399 later on.
