Typographic Musical Instruments by Francisco Cortés
Published Jun 5, 2020
Mexican designer Francisco Cortés created this cool series of letter-shaped musical instruments as his contribution for the 36 Days of Type project.
“For the 6th edition of the global movement ‘36 Days of Type’ we set out the goal of relating two of the areas that profoundly inspire our life day by day: music and 3d art. The challenge was to convert each of the letters of the alphabet into a musical instrument, starting by the initial letter of each name.
From the beginning, we discovered the capabilities of each letter to sustain, structure, embrace and support all kinds of elements that make possible the sonority; elements such as strings, keys, masts, sound boxes and cavities through which the air can travel.”
