Is Genki’s Sleeper Case the Best Slim Case for Switch 2?

A sleek, compact case with an incredibly strong shell, but be careful with the zipper (for now).

Another Switch 2 product we’ve been testing out recently is the Sleeper Case from Genki, a very stylish carry case that combines premium materials with a clean design.

Here are our early impressions.

At first glance, the Sleeper Case looks like a lightweight soft sleeve, with a nice wool exterior and compact design, but don’t be fooled. The hard shell behind that soft material is incredibly tough.

This case will give you some serious protection without the bulk of traditional hard cases, and should be a great everyday option for anyone who wants something slim but durable.

The interior has indents for the JoyCons and a protective flap for the screen with slots for 18 game cartridges. Everything feels considered, clean and well-executed.

Keep in mind that this is a slim case, so if you’re using an ergonomic case or grip attachments on your Joy-Cons, your Switch 2 won’t fit.

There’s a lot to like about this case, but unfortunately the zipper turned out to be the weak link in this early batch. Genki made a last-minute upgrade to a concealed waterproof zipper (a smart design move in theory) but the adhesive used during production didn’t hold up as intended.

As a result, some users (ourselves included) experienced the zipper snagging in multiple spots and eventually separating entirely, making the case impossible to close.

Genki is already aware of the issue and has confirmed that a revised version is in the works. According to the team, the fix is expected to ship by July and early buyers will receive free replacements or refunds.

Despite the setback, we’re still very much impressed by the overall design and feel of the Sleeper Case. If the zipper issue is addressed as planned, this could easily become one of the best slim-profile cases on the market for the Switch 2.
