Torn: Stunning Abstract Photos by Rus Khasanov

Published Sep 3, 2024

“Torn” is another fascinating collection of abstract images by Kyrgyzstan-based artist Rus Khasanov. Part of his ongoing “Distortion” series, these photos explore the beauty found in shattered CDs, elevating these ordinary objects into extraordinary visual experiences.

In these images, Rus highlights the stark contrast between the torn black matte surface and the glossy rainbow layer produced by the broken discs. He achieves this incredible interplay of textures and colors without using any paints or liquids. Instead, he relies solely on the phenomenon of interference, where overlapping light waves generate mersmerizing patterns.
