Retroid Pocket Duo Brings Dual OLED Screens To The Clamshell Handheld Race

Retroid has officially unveiled the Pocket Duo, their first purpose-built dual-screen handheld, alongside a more affordable Pocket Duo Lite.

The new clamshell packs a 5.5-inch 16:9 OLED display up top and a 4.5-inch 4:3 OLED below, with both panels running at 120Hz. That combination makes it particularly well suited for Nintendo DS and 3DS emulation, but the top widescreen display can also be used for other Android games and emulators.

What’s Different Between The Two?

The standard Pocket Duo is the flagship of the pair. In addition to two OLED displays, it runs on Qualcomm’s Dragonwing Q-7790, an IoT variant of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 with an eight-core CPU clocked up to 2.8GHz and an Adreno 722 GPU, and ships with Android 16. In terms of raw power, that should position it somewhere between the Snapdragon 865-powered AYN Thor Lite and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Thor Base. Both the Duo and the more affordable Lite version share a 6,000mAh battery and active cooling.

The Pocket Duo Lite trades both OLED panels for 60Hz LCDs, keeping the same 5.5-inch top display but stepping down to a smaller 4.2-inch bottom screen. Under the hood, it runs the older Qualcomm QCS6125, an eight-core Kryo 260 chip topping out at 2GHz paired with an Adreno 610 GPU, and launches on Android 15 rather than 16.

Beyond the displays and chipsets, the shoulder buttons differ between the two models. The standard Duo gets a stacked arrangement, while the Duo Lite switches to in-line shoulder buttons.

Both versions will launch in five colorways: three solids in Black, GC, and 16Bit, plus two see-through finishes in Ice Blue and Clear Purple for fans of the translucent aesthetic. Retroid hasn’t announced pricing, RAM and storage configurations, or a release date yet, so those details will likely determine how the Pocket Duo stacks up against other recent dual-screen Android handhelds like the AYN Thor and AYANEO Pocket DS.
