The Art of Growing Food: Photos by Aleksei Boiko
Published Sep 24, 2024
“The Art of Growing Food” is a breathtaking visual series by photographer Aleksei Boiko, showcasing the intricate designs formed by rice farming in Indonesia.
The collection includes striking aerial images of rice fields and terraces, alongside candid shots of farmers at work on the ground. From a bird’s eye perspective, these fields look like beautifully complex mosaics of curves and colors. The aerial views allow us to appreciate the undulating lines and rhythmic patterns of these agricultural wonders. In Aleksei’s own words:
“Rice fields and terraces are a symbiosis of human labor and nature.”
“We have to repeat the surface by planting everything with the same crop. This creates the most bizarre shapes and patterns.”
