Taking It Literally: Witty Visual Puzzles by Simon Kämpfer
Published Apr 16, 2026
Literally Meaning is a fun personal project by Barcelona-based designer and 3D artist Simon Kämpfer, built around a simple idea: take a common word or phrase and render it with deadpan visual accuracy in three dimensions.
The series works as both a guessing game and a showcase of Simon’s craft. Each piece hides its answer, which he reveals at the end of his portfolio sequence, inviting viewers to sit with the image and work it out. By forcing that pause, he shows just how strange everyday language becomes when you strip away its metaphorical armour and treat it as fact. A baseball glove cradles an eyeball. Honey drips over a cratered lunar surface. The Eiffel Tower assembles itself from french fries. The logic is absurd, the execution is precise.
Simon keeps the compositions minimal and the lighting clean, letting the idea carry the image without distraction. Explore the full series below and see how many you can get right before checking all the answers on his portfolio.
