Reflect/Refract: Experimental Typography by Nick Matej
Published Oct 22, 2021
Amazing stylized alphabet by Cleveland-based freelance artist Nick Matej (previously here and here).
“This series was created February–August 2021 with an initial exploration phase beginning in late January of 2021. It was originally conceived as a series for the 36 Days of Type event on Instagram, eventually evolving into a self-paced experimental exercise.
Inspiration was taken from Jazz fusion music and album artwork, late ’70s and ’80s video and film production company logos and airbrush artwork, and an interest in experimenting with different materials and how they might interact with one another.
Reference material was specifically not used in order to maintain a stylized look.”
