Playful Illustrations by Mmatcha

Mmatcha is a talented freelance illustrator and graphic designer based in Shanghai, China. She obtained her degree from the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts and went on to pursue postgraduate studies at Sheffield Hallam University in the UK.

While in the UK, Mmatcha’s major required her to frequently produce interior design sketches. This led to sketching becoming a regular aspect of her life, prompting her to capture everyday moments such as her daily meals and the people she met during her travels. These experiences became instrumental in shaping her career as an illustrator. In her own words:

“Most of my illustration inspiration comes from observing the details of life, plants, photography, books, and more.”

“I particularly enjoy illustrating architecture and characters, and I’m passionate about light and shadow. I use a variety of tones, whimsical characters, and cheerful aesthetics to convey stories.”
