Michael Simms is an Australian artist based in Sydney, whose work is characterised by dreamlike depictions of the human figure.
“My paintings vary from traditional portraiture to surreal explorations of identity and queer culture in the digital age. I am particularly interested in the various ways that technology is entangled with the human experience. My work combines elements of classicism, romanticism, surrealism and psychology to provoke questions about identity, beauty and isolation.”
