Out of This World: Photos by Ben Simon Rehn
Published Jun 7, 2024
Photographer Ben Simon Rehn‘s latest series, “Extraterrestrial” and “Ice,” offer a unique glimpse into the frozen wonders of Iceland. These collections feature close-up images of stalactites and icy surfaces that create an ethereal and otherworldly atmosphere.
Iceland is a recurring canvas for Ben’s work, but in these new series, he departs from his usual aerial and landscape shots and gets up close to his natural subjects, revealing the intricate textures and patterns found in ice formations in exquisite detail.
The alien-like landscapes formed by stalactites and ice structures evoke a sense of being on another planet, with their sharp, angular forms and surreal lighting. Ben’s close-ups focus on the minute details of ice, capturing its delicate crystalline structures and the way light interacts with its surfaces.
