L’ORSO: A Restaurant Identity Inspired by the Strength of the Bear
Published Jul 22, 2026
Colombian studio MANONEGRA&Co. has created an elegant identity for L’ORSO, an Italian restaurant focused on traditional recipes and time-honoured culinary techniques. The restaurant’s name and symbol both trace back to the bear, an animal chosen to represent strength, resilience and the protective spirit of the restaurant’s experienced chef and founders.
The main visual element is the silhouette of a bear inside a stone oven, bringing together the natural and artisanal elements behind the brand. A custom wordmark paired with a muted palette of olive green, stone, cream and copper adds warmth, while monochromatic illustrations of bears, forest landscapes and Italian ingredients reinforce the restaurant’s rustic atmosphere.
Across menus, uniforms, packaging, signage and digital applications, the branding balances expressive artwork with carefully restrained typography and tactile finishes. Watercolour-style compositions featuring seafood, olives, tomatoes and prepared dishes celebrate the ingredients at the heart of the menu, creating a cohesive visual world rooted in Italian craftsmanship and a slower, more considered approach to food.
