Iconic Artworks by Natasja van der Meer
Published Jul 22, 2016
Interesting pop culture-inspired pieces by Dutch artist Natasja van der Meer.
“Wonder at tiny details in life can inspire me to make a sculpture. A recurring theme in my work is childhood, parenthood, the curiosity an innocence of a child in what can often be a weird and wonderful world.
In order to express my ideas, I like to work with scale. My sculptures are scaled versions of existing objects. They may seem charming and quaint on one level, but by adjusting the scale they can also evoke a sense of alienation and confusion.”
