Hyper-Realistic Pencil Drawings by Kohei Ohmori
Published Feb 18, 2025
Kohei Ohmori is an amazing Japanese artist who specializes in hyper-realistic portraits and pencil drawings of metallic objects, from shiny bolts to polished teapots. Using just graphite pencils, he captures every tiny detail—reflections, scratches, water drops, and even the texture of lettering. The amount of patience and focus is astonishing, with some drawings taking him hundreds of hours to finish.
Ohmori’s artistic career hit a turning point in 2017 when his sister posted one of his pieces on social media. It went viral, and suddenly millions of people were checking out his work, including the curator of the Setouchi City Museum of Art. That moment kicked off a series of events that eventually led to his first solo exhibition.
Beyond the finished pieces, fans now get to watch his creative process on platforms like YouTube and Instagram. Seeing him take a blank sheet of paper and turn it into something so intricately detailed is truly fascinating.
