Human Towers: Aerial Photos by David Oliete

Published Jun 5, 2014

Spanish photographer David Oliete captured these fantastic aerial shots of “Concurs de Castells”, a human tower competition hosted in the city of Tarragona every two years.

“The competition took place with the participation of 32 teams from all around Catalonia and a live audience of more than 20,000 people. Simple rules apply to the sport: the higher and most difficult to build a tower is, the more points a team gets. Measuring between six and ten levels high, teams are formed between 100 to 500 women and men to create the largest structures possible. The youngest and lightest members form the top of the tower while heavier members maintain the base.”
