Fading Away: Incredible Sculptures by Tomohiro Inaba
Published Oct 2, 2024
Japanese artist Tomohiro Inaba creates fascinating iron sculptures depicting figures in a state of transformation, as if they were slowly dissipating into thin air.
Inaba’s sculptures often feature wild animals, drawing inspiration from folk tales and humanity’s deep-rooted connection with nature. In his pieces, solid iron forms gradually unravel into delicate, scribbled lines that seem to vanish into nothingness. This distinctive approach, which he refers to as the “gradient to blank,” evokes a sense of intrigue, prompting questions about presence, absence and the boundaries of perception.
