The AYANEO 3 is up for Pre-Order: Modular Controls, Full Specs & Pricing Revealed

Published Jan 25, 2025

The AYANEO 3, the latest entry in the increasingly crowded world of handheld gaming PCs, has officially launched, and pre-orders are now live on Indiegogo.

The coolest thing about the AYANEO 3 (and its key selling point) is an innovative modular control system, which allows you to mix and match components to fit your style or switch things up depending on the game you’re playing.

There’s no denying this is an awesome feature that gives users a level of flexibility and customization like no other handheld out there. But, it also adds a layer of complexity that could become a point of failure down the road, especially if you’re hard on your handhelds. So, it’s something to keep in mind.

Pricing Breakdown

The AYANEO 3 comes in multiple configurations. The entry-level model starts at $699 with the Ryzen 7 8840U chip. If you’re looking for some serious performance, the high-spec version with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor starts at $1,299 for the sleek “Starry Black” design, or you can go all in on the $1,799 limited-edition “Retro Power” colorway.

You can pick between two screen options for any of the models—a sharp, high-quality LCD or an even more premium OLED display for those rich blacks and vivid colors. Both displays have high refresh rates (120Hz or 144Hz) and no bezels, adding to the AYANEO 3’s super sleek design.

The modular controls and design look amazing on paper, but since this is the first time we’re seeing something like this on a handheld, they haven’t been widely tested in the real world yet. Only time will tell how tough and reliable these swappable parts actually are.

Another potential drawback is the device’s 49 watt-hour battery capacity, which is on the smaller side, particularly when compared to competitors like the ROG Ally X and its beefy 80Wh battery. If you’re playing demanding games at high settings, you might find yourself reaching for the charger more often than you’d like.

Pre-Orders Now Open

If you’re ready to take the leap and try one of the most interesting and innovative gaming handhelds of 2025, the AYANEO 3 is now available for pre-order now on Indiegogo. With shipping slated to begin in April, you won’t have to wait long to get your hands on this gorgeous device.
