East Meets West: Illustrations by Ryan Ragnini

In this personal project called “East Art Meets West Art,” Italian designer Ryan Ragnini explores the combination of two completely different cultural aesthetics. The series reimagines famous classic and modern Western paintings as if they were created in Japan, resulting in an interesting blend of Occidental and Oriental artistic elements.

The project started with a simple question: “What if famous classic and modern Western paintings were created in the Eastern side of our globe, more specifically Japan?” This basic concept ignited Ryan’s artistic exploration, which resulted a series of intricate illustrations that navigate the intersection of Western and Japanese art traditions.
