Déjà Vu: Blurred Realities by Adam Escribano
Published Jun 9, 2025
Spanish photographer Adam Escribano’s Déjà Vu series dives straight into that strange, slippery feeling that something familiar is unfolding, except it never really happened. Through layered portraits and subtle visual shifts, he captures a character drifting between timelines, stuck in everyday moments that repeat, reflect and fracture. The result is haunting without being heavy-handed, balancing clarity and confusion in equal measure.
Rather than going full surreal, Adam keeps one foot in the real world. His use of on-camera effects and photo manipulation blends the familiar with the unfamiliar in a way that feels uncomfortably close. There’s a rhythm to the work, like catching a thought just before it disappears. His work doesn’t offer easy answers, and that’s the point. It invites you to sit with the mystery, to wonder about the bridges between now and then, and to form your own conclusions about whether déjà vu is just a trick of the mind or something much deeper.
