Cool Pixel Art Creations by Romain Courtois

Published Mar 23, 2023

Romain Courtois is a French illustrator and art director who has a talent for creating beautiful pixel art. His unique style of 8-bit artwork is heavily influenced by the old school video games of the early ’80s and ’90s.

He pays homage to those classic games while also adding his own modern twist, utilizing vibrant colors, intricate details and smooth animations to bring his artwork to life. In an interview with #FF0083 he explains what drove him to pixel art:

“When I started making pixel art, it was in order to create the kind of retro video games I used to play when I was a kid. But progressively it became a full-time art technique for my personal work.

I like the fact that there is no lines, no hand—it’s a kind of Impressionism, but sleek and shiny like a film. With pixel art, I’m trying to do something between photography, cinema, and illustration.”

Romain’s work can be found on various platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Behance where he shares his latest creations with his followers. His pieces are also available for purchase on Society6.
