Chaotic Feasts & Fruitful Fantasies: Colorful Still-Lifes by Pedro Pedro
Published Sep 26, 2025
Los Angeles–based artist Pedro Pedro reimagines the still-life tradition with bold humor and vibrant energy. His paintings turn everyday objects like half-eaten sandwiches, scattered personal items and bowls of fruit into exuberant characters in playful, excessive scenes.
Working with textile paint on unprimed linen, Pedro softens the intensity of his saturated palettes, creating plush textures that make even raw steaks and messy tabletops feel oddly inviting. Whether it’s a picnic spread overflowing with fruits and cakes or a cluttered breakfast tray piled with eggs, cutlery, and avocados, his still-lifes parody the genre while reflecting the disorder and richness of everyday living.
Pedro’s work is currently on view at Fundación La Nave Salinas in Spain through October 31st. You can also explore more of his food-filled worlds on his website and Instagram.
