Bikes of Hanoi: Photo Series by Jon Enoch

Every day in the vibrant city of Hanoi, captivating scenes play out as skilled delivery drivers effortlessly weave through the bustling streets on their motorbikes, carrying an incredible variety of items. From car parts to sports equipment, or even live fish, these riders deliver or sell almost any imaginable product. London-based photographer Jon Enoch has beautifully captured this iconic aspect of Vietnam’s capital in his series titled Bikes of Hanoi.

The series showcases the incredible balance skills of Hanoi’s delivery drivers. Enoch spent a week in Hanoi, chasing down riders and convincing them to pose for the camera. The resulting photographs are a vibrant celebration of Hanoi’s street life, capturing the weird and wonderful objects motorbike riders carry on their bikes.

Jon’s idea of documenting this age-old art of delivery was sparked by news of new legislation in Vietnam that plans to ban motorbikes from the city by 2030. The aim is to improve air quality and reduce congestion, but it also means that this unique and colorful part of Hanoi’s culture might soon be coming to an end.
