AX Awards Trophy Design & Branding by Rubio & del Amo

Spanish studio Rubio & del Amo created this unique trophy design and brand identity for the AX Awards, as a tribute to an iconic historical figure.

The stylized heart trophy draws inspiration from King Alfonso X’s desire to have his heart buried in Murcia, as expressed in his will. The geometric design remains true to the anatomical structure of a human heart, and its iconic form is revealed when viewed from different angles. In terms of materials, the trophy is made from resin with a ceramic filler, a combination of elements that gives it some density and weight while ensuring its durability.

The overarching brand identity is centered around a color palette that symbolizes blood and nobility, and these colors play a significant role in distinguishing the various award categories. A rich, noble blue is used for lifetime achievement awards, while a pure white represents emerging careers, highlighting the potential and unwritten future of new talents. Another key brand element is the logo, an animated monogram that pulses like a heartbeat, reinforcing the living nature of Alfonso X’s legacy and the ongoing celebration of cultural achievements.
