“A Collective Glow” is an enchanting series of paintings featured in a new solo exhibition by New York-based artist Gigi Chen. This stunning collection will be showcased at Beinart Gallery in Melbourne, Australia, from June 23rd to July 14th, 2024.
The series explores the intricate connections between nature and mythology, weaving narratives that delve into the artist’s profound feelings about family, belonging, safety, and love. Gigi uses her signature style to invite viewers into a world where animals serve as intermediaries for her personal stories. Among these whimsical representations, visitors will discover enchanting figures such as a bejeweled deer and a horse adorned with emblazoned emblems on its haunches, both serving as nostalgic callbacks to the fantastical elements of our youth.
