The House of Volumes by Modo Designs
Published Feb 12, 2025
Nestled in the city of Ahmedabad, India, The House of Volumes by Modo Designs is a brilliant example of how architecture can seamlessly blend tradition with modernity.
Designed for a Gujarati family, this home revolves around a central courtyard, a classic Indian architectural feature that invites natural light, ventilation, and a deep sense of connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces.
The ground floor encompasses cozy living and dining areas overlooking a lush north garden, while two bedrooms, a gym and even a formal guest area are neatly arranged to balance privacy and communal gathering. Upstairs, the design comes alive with three bedrooms, a home theater, and a warm lounge that extends onto a terrace that doubles as an outdoor entertainment space. Adding to the charm are the soaring double-height volumes that connect the lower and upper levels, creating visual continuity across the house.
