The Art of the Hero Shot: Product Photography by Brian Rodgers Jr.
Published Mar 5, 2025
Brian Rodgers Jr. is a commercial photographer based in Indiana who combines a sharp eye for detail and insane skills in high-end retouching to produce powerful visual stories. His creative process often blurs the line between photography and digital art, resulting in flawless compositions with a distinctive post-production polish.
Throughout his career, Brian has helped brands like Snickers and Razer elevate their product presentations with his “hero shot” approach, which focuses on lighting and composite methods to turn everyday products into iconic visuals. He also shares his knowledge through platforms such as Fstoppers and Photoshop User Magazine, and his tutorial, The Hero Shot, has become a go-to resource for up-and-coming photographers.
Most of the visuals you see here were captured with a camera, including all the effects like splashes, fire and particles, before being combined in Photoshop. But some pieces, like the guitar pedal and amplifier, are CGI renders that Brian has meticulously created.
To see more of Brian’s work, head over to his website and follow him on Behance, Instagram and YouTube.
