Tech-Inspired Sculptures by Michal Sycz
Published Sep 5, 2023
Michal Sycz is a Polish contemporary artist and graphic designer who combines technology and artistry by using components from vintage audio equipment as the medium for his artistic expression.
The artist’s fascination with audio equipment from the 60s, 70s and 80s is evident in his work. He meticulously dismantles these relics of the past, repurposing their components into sculptural objects and art installations. This practice imbues his work with a sense of nostalgia, while also commenting on the transitory nature of technology.
Michal’s sculptures are not only visually stunning, but they also provoke thought about how we perceive obsolete technology. His artwork challenges us to see beyond an object’s intended purpose, encouraging us to appreciate the beauty and potential in what might otherwise be discarded.
His innovative use of vintage audio components has resulted in a visually striking body of work. The intricate details found in these audio devices lend themselves to creating unique textures and geometric compositions within his sculptures. From knobs and dials to circuit boards and speakers, each element is carefully incorporated into his designs, creating a unique aesthetic that is distinctly his own.
