Sam Chick Captures the Magic of McLaren’s Finest in Stunning Photos
Published Apr 24, 2025
UK-based photographer Sam Chick has masterfully captured the McLaren F1 XP5, F1 GTR, and F1 XP LM, highlighting their jaw-dropping designs with his incredible photography.
Over two nights on The Boulevard at McLaren’s MTC, Sam worked alongside designer Peter Allen to photograph this extraordinary trio for Magneto magazine. The clean, futuristic space of The Boulevard served as the perfect stage, letting the colors and shapes of the cars take center stage. Sam’s eye for composition paired with careful retouching and color grading by Tony Swinney makes each image a celebration of automotive perfection.
These cars are more than just visually stunning—they each carry a remarkable story. The ‘Dark Metallic Green’ XP5 is a record-breaking machine, hitting 240.14 mph in 1998 to claim the production car speed record. The ‘Grand Prix Red’ F1 GTR holds the distinction of being McLaren’s first road-legal GTR. And the ‘Papaya Orange’ XP LM seen here is “Experimental Prototype Number 1,” which paved the way for the ultra-rare LM production cars, a tribute to McLaren’s 1995 Le Mans efforts.
