“Reborn” is a stunning exploration of geometric forms and futurism by Sri Lankan artist Kumkum Fernando. Using found objects, he crafts colorful sculptures with a robotic appearance.
Kumkum has always been fascinated by the idea of transformation. Currently based in Vietnam, the artist and his team explore the busy streets around his studio, always searching for discarded materials that can be repurposed into sculptural pieces. He draws inspiration from his heritage to ingeniously reimagines traditional aesthetic into futuristic sculptures with geometric designs. These striking deities serve as both action figures and idols, captivating viewers with their vibrant colors while invoking a spiritualism that is rooted in East Asian traditions.
