Painterly Digital Portraits by SeungWon Hong
Published Feb 26, 2026
Working primarily in Photoshop with a tablet, Seoul-based illustrator SeungWon Hong renders portraits and figures with the loose, gestural energy of an impressionist oil painting.
His inspiration comes from the world of fashion and lifestyle, focusing on people with presence. Suits, watches and even race cars appear in his compositions, but they are never rendered in a flat, commercial way. Instead, fabric dissolves into layered strokes, faces fracture into color blocks, and backgrounds blur into expressive fields of movement. His client list, which includes Zegna, Ferrari, Giorgio Armani and GQ, is a clear reflection of that sartorial territory.
