Captivating Figurative Paintings by Kwang Hyun Kim
Published Feb 28, 2023
Kwang Hyun Kim is an artist from South Korea whose paintings focus on the feelings of loneliness, contemplation and passion. His detailed acrylic on canvas pieces feature intriguing characters with odd facial expressions. His style is deeply inspired by his father’s work as a cartoonist, as well as traditional Buddhist art.
Kim’s figures are depicted in a state of introspection, as if in a trance, suggesting moments of self-reflection which can be experienced by anyone who looks at his work. Through his art, he brings to light the beauty and sometimes pain found within human nature.
The emotional intensity found in each painting encourages viewers to contemplate the feelings they see expressed in the artwork and how it relates to them personally.
