No Blue, No Green: Droga5 Visualizes a Fragile Balance
Published Apr 3, 2026
Droga5 São Paulo expands its “Lifeless Flag” campaign with a new series of screen-printed works that make a simple idea tangible: without the ocean, life on land starts to collapse. The first phase stripped the Brazilian flag of its blue and green. This second chapter rebuilds it through image, pairing flora and fauna inside the familiar yellow diamond.
Each print creates striking compositions where native animals, plants, coastal landscapes and ocean textures overlap, showing how these systems are intrinsically tied. The work draws from Brazilian naturalist illustration, with a tactile, graphic language shaped by visible ink layers and the controlled imperfections of screen printing.
Produced with natural mineral pigments, the prints align their material with their message, avoiding synthetic shortcuts while maintaining tight control over color and layering. The campaign’s central idea also sits in the mechanics of color itself: blue and yellow create green. Remove one, and the system breaks. It’s a clear, direct way to frame a complex issue, using one of Brazil’s strongest visual symbols to show how fragile that balance really is.
