Nature Meets Surrealism in Anne Angelshaug’s Art
Published Apr 21, 2025
Anne Angelshaug is an Norwegian artist who draws from her fascination with the connections between people and the natural world to create surreal and whimsical compositions.
Her work plays with contrasts, weaving together elements of beauty and melancholy. At first glance, her paintings might seem like enchanting fairytales, but spend a little longer looking, and you’ll sense a deeper undercurrent of tension and consequence. The animals and human figures in her work seem to serve as silent narrators, guiding us through stories of the past and hints of an uncertain future.
Originally from Oslo, Anne spent her childhood in the stunning landscapes of Jølster, Norway, which left a profound impact on her. She later studied at Falmouth University in England, and her work has since been featured in galleries throughout Norway and around the world, from Australia to the United States.
