Memories: Nostalgic Illustrations by Moy Lee

Chinese artist Moy Lee captures the strange clarity of childhood in Memories, an ongoing series of warm, endearing digital illustrations. The collection follows a little girl through scenes of drawing, reading, playing games, collecting stickers, riding imaginary vehicles and getting lost in small domestic worlds.

Some references, from school uniforms and childhood snacks to retro electronics and local games, will land most directly with Chinese audiences, but many elements are recognizable anywhere. The Windows XP interface, an Etch-A-Sketch, iconic cartoon characters and video game references all cross borders easily. The illustrations also show how nostalgia often lives in the details: a glowing radio, a rain-soaked umbrella, a cluttered desk, a toy tucked into the corner of a room.
