Light Studies: Plein Air Scenes by Maciej Sidorowicz
Published Apr 2, 2026
Warsaw-based artist Maciej Sidorowicz captures everyday places with a loose, observational approach. Working digitally but thinking like a plein air painter, he crafts each scene quickly, focusing on light, structure and atmosphere rather than fine detail.
Maciej’s images retain clear traces of his process. Brushstrokes stay visible, edges shift and soften, and large shapes block in space before smaller elements settle into place. Whether it’s a quiet suburban street, a lakeside cabin or a late-night tram stop, each piece has a cinematic quality.
He reduces each environment to what matters, light direction, color relationships and spatial rhythm, then lets the rest fall away. The scenes feel familiar, grounded in real locations but shaped through a painter’s eye.
