Lariot: A Knockout Concept for the Future of Robotic Sports
Published May 28, 2025
Product designer Seunghwan Ra is taking a swing at the future with Lariot, a concept for the first humanoid robot designed specifically for boxing. Inspired by the world imagined in the 2011 film Real Steel, the project pushes us closer to a reality where robots don’t just support humans, they take center stage.
Lariot’s design begins with a breakdown of humanoid anatomy, reimagined for speed, strength and agility. Every element is engineered for high-impact punches and fast footwork, reshaping expectations of what humanoid robots can do. Its standout feature, the Cowl system, adds another layer: a sponsorship-driven armor that doubles as ad space for brands like Red Bull, Adidas, Visa and more. It’s a sharp take on the commercial side of sports, where performance and marketing collide.
Visually, Lariot feels like a convincing leap forward. Part athlete, part entertainer and part cultural critique. Branded head to toe, it hints at a future where sport, tech, and spectacle are inseparable. You can check out the full project on Behance.
