Lacoste and Alpine’s Wild One-Off Rally Car

French icons Lacoste and Alpine have joined forces on a one-off electric rally car that brings together motorsport engineering, fashion and a healthy dose of crocodile-inspired drama. Officially named Beware of the Crocodile – Alpine Lacoste A290 Rallye, the vehicle is based on Alpine’s most extreme, competition-focused version of the A290.

Outside, a subtly textured bluish-white finish references snow, ice and Alpine landscapes, while glowing red graphics transform the headlights into a pair of reptilian eyes. Inside, things shift dramatically. Lacoste and Alpine have created an almost entirely red cockpit designed to feel like stepping into the crocodile’s mouth. The seats and door panels are dressed in Lacoste’s signature petit piqué fabric, alongside red anodised structural components, rally equipment and lightweight 3D-printed lattice sections. Crocodile motifs are hidden throughout the vehicle, with 290 of them incorporated into the overall design.

The collaboration extends beyond the car with a capsule collection of polo shirts, T-shirts, technical outerwear and accessories inspired by the worlds of tennis and racing. It is also featured in The Test, a playful short film starring actor Pierre Niney and Alpine Formula One driver Pierre Gasly, both Lacoste ambassadors.
