Kingsmead Book Fair Campaign by Christo Krüger

Published Jul 21, 2023

Christo Krüger, a graphic designer and illustrator based in Johannesburg, played a significant role in shaping this impactful visual identity for the Kingsmead Book Fair campaign, back in 2016. Working at studio Xfacta, Christo developed the key visuals for the event, creating an engaging and memorable aesthetic.

The Kingsmead Book Fair is known for its focus on debate, dialogue and discussion, elements that were seamlessly integrated into the campaign’s clever design.

“The idea celebrates the profound impact books have on the reader.”

“Each execution was brought to life by a bespoke grid, inspired by the books and their role as catalysts of information and opinion. The photographs are ‘built’ with books to represent how reading shapes the readers thinking and outlook. Every reader is a collection of the information, dialogues, landscapes, plots, sub-plots, and emotions channeled through the written words they have interacted with.“
