Kandinsky Meets Mario: The Pop Geometry of 8th Project
Published Aug 8, 2025
French artist 8th Project reinterprets familiar pop culture characters with an abstract, deconstructed twist. Now based in Mexico, his journey into art began only a few years ago, yet his bold visual language already feels sharply defined. rooted in the playful abstraction of Kandinsky and infused with a love for color, geometry and form.
From Mario and Sonic to Mickey Mouse and Pikachu, his artworks take well-known figures and fracture them into rhythmic compositions of circles, lines and curves. The characters remain recognizable, but only just, inviting viewers to slow down and solve each visual puzzle. What starts as a swirl of chaotic forms ultimately settles into something cohesive and expressive.
