Human Geometry: Sculptures by Rogério Timóteo
Published Apr 25, 2024
Portuguese sculptor Rogério Timóteo‘s work is a mesmerizing blend of the human form with geometric elements. His sculptures, crafted from a diverse range of materials such as marble, limestone, resins, iron, bronze and steel, showcase a seamless harmony between the organic and the structured.
Rogério’s practice usually revolves around capturing the body in abstract forms, where limbs and torsos merge with geometric shapes, creating a unique and memorable visual language and serving as a counterbalance to the fluidity of the human figure. But the circles, squares and other shapes used in his work are not mere aesthetic choices. These elements are imbued with symbolic meaning, representing concepts such as eternity, stability and the cyclical nature of existence.
