Hata Dome: A Sculptural Desert Sanctuary by Anastasiya Dudik
Published Jul 9, 2025
Tucked away on the edge of California’s Sawtooth Mountains, the Hata Dome is anything but your typical holiday home. Designed and built by Ukrainian creative Anastasiya Dudik, this sculptural monolithic dome feels like stepping into another world, part futuristic, part primitive, and fully magical.
Inside, 16-foot ceilings soar in cathedral-like curves, while soft, lunar-toned walls and boulder-crafted furnishings create a calming, otherworldly vibe. Panoramic doors open onto a circular saltwater pool that perfectly frames golden hour over the rugged landscape.
Beyond its sculptural beauty, Hata is a quiet masterclass in sustainable living. Thick, insulated concrete walls naturally regulate the temperature, while the rounded form boosts energy efficiency and helps the dome stand strong against the elements.
