Golden Hour: An Artistic Tribute to Los Angeles by George Townley

Golden Hour is a new book by British artist George Townley shining a light on LA’s iconic landmarks through striking illustrations. Launched through a Kickstarter campaign, the project reached its initial $5,000 goal within just 30 minutes.

The 220-page hardcover book is packed with over 100 original illustrations that showcase George’s love for LA in his signature retro style. From mid-century modern gems like Richard Neutra’s Lovell House to famous places such as the Griffith Observatory, the book captures the city’s unique blend of architecture, culture and sun-drenched vibes. More than just a visual treat, he also included personal notes and insights about the buildings featured, turning it into his own guidebook to LA.

George found his inspiration for the project during his time studying in California, where LA’s architecture and atmosphere left a lasting impression on his work. Drawing from influences like Hiroshi Nagai and classic Hollywood films, his illustrations highlight the details that make the city so captivating.
