Fantasy & Sci-Fi Illustrations by Luis Alvarez Castañon
Published Oct 2, 2025
Spanish concept artist Luis Alvarez Castañon brings a cinematic touch to fantastical and futuristic worlds. Currently based in Asturies, Spain, where he works as a senior concept artist at Horns Up Games, Luis crafts imagery that feels like a bridge between film, painting and game design.
His portfolio ranges from sci-fi ships hovering above alien landscapes (including striking renditions of The Mandalorian’s Razor Crest and Samus’ Gunship from Super Metroid), to intimate campfire scenes and mythic encounters with colossal creatures. In each work, Luis balances atmosphere and detail, using light, scale and composition to pull viewers deep into his imagined universes.
With more than seven years of experience in video games, VR, and cinematic productions, Luis has honed a practice that blends technical precision with narrative depth. You can explore more of his amazing work on ArtStation.
